Katie Sovik trained at Lareen Fender’s Ballet School from the time she was 7 until she graduated from high school at 17. She continued her dance education at California State University, Fullerton, where she received her BA in Dance. In addition to the ballet, tap, musical theater, and contemporary training Katie received at The Ballet School, Fullerton’s dance program provided intensive training in modern dance, where Katie primarily studied Graham, Horton, and Limon. After graduating in June of 2021, she moved to Madison, Wisconsin, to dance professionally for Kanopy Dance Company, where she performed works by reputable choreographers such as Lloyd Knight, Pascal Rioult, and Colin Connor. Though dancing professionally was a dream come true, Katie’s ultimate dream has always been to teach at The Ballet School. She is thrilled to be back at her forever home and is honored to be a faculty member at the place that made all of her dreams come true.
